Rahm Emanuel: Will a "Chicago Thug" Doom Obama?

Rahm Emauel is, of course, Obaama's chosen chief of staff. Like Obama himself, Emanuel comes out of the Chicago "culture of corruption. Emauel also has a reputation as a tough partisan--an "enoforcer", or Chicago thug (in the political sense).

That brings us to Friday's "reports" that Rahm Emanuel had multiple conversations with the Governor of Illinois about the choice of the Obama successor to fill Obama's Senate seat--including some conversations apparently on tape. No, I have not forgotten my own rule that reports based on anonymous sources are nothing but rumor and gossip, until confirmed.

The problem here, however, is that Obama's version of events is totally unbelievable--even inconceivable. That makes our President-Elect a bald faced, almost sociopathic, liar--apparently in the view that the mainstream media, and "opinion makers outside of conservative talk radio, will not dare to take on Obama in any aggressive way. In other words, Obama expects to get away with it, as he did during the campaign.

The transparent lie is that Obama knew nothing about what was happening in connection with filling his Senate seat, and that no Obama people were in contact with the Governor. Rahm Emanuel, of course, is not just an "Obama aide". He is the chosen chief of staff. It is inconceivable that Emanuel would not have informed David Obama, and David Axelrod, of Emanuel's sense of what was going on in Illinois (assuming the rumors about Emanuel's extensive conversations are true).

As I said earlier in the week, it just does not make any sense for Obama not to want to know, and to in fact know, as much as possible, what is going on in terms of filling his Senate seat. So Obama's statements to the contrary are transparent lies. The interesting question is: WHY?. Yes, why lie about it?

There is nothing wrong with Obama wanting to know what is going on with regard to filling his Senate seat: who is being considered. Are we to believe that Obma did not care? Is that not an indictment of Obama, in and of itself, if it were true (which it is not)? Would not Obama not at least want to know who is being considered, with the idea of having at least input in the nature of a veto? There is nothing really wrong with Obama suggesting a candidate, but at the very least Obama would not (in the real universe, as distinguished from Obama's fantasy world into which he invites the mainstream media) want a person selected without at least having the opportunity to have input. Any other idea is absurd. That is why Obama guru, David Axelrod, thought nothing of saying that Obama had talked to the Illinois Governor. Why would Obama not, or have an aide like Ramn Emanuel do it? There is nothing even wrong with that.

But there is a lot wrong with the transparent lie that Obama "saw no evil, heard no evil, and spoke no evil"--or anything at all, evil or not. That suggests guilty knowledge about the deals the Governor of Illinois was trying to make, for which he has been charged with--in effect--selling a Senate seat. As I previously stated, even knowing about the crimes the Governor was committing would not necessarily make Obama (or Emanuel) a criminal. However, remember that Scooter Libby's "crime" (involving the same Fitzgerald) was not committing an affirmative crime (there being no such crime with regard to Valerie Plame from the beginning). Libby's crime, for which he was convicted, was lying about the facts to investigators.

Note how hard Democrats, including Obama and other politicians in Illinois, are trying to avoid finding out the full "facts" involved in this corruption scandal in Illinois. These are the same people (literally, in some cases, and the same type of people--in all cases) who wanted a criminal "trial" of Richard Nixon (circus though it would be--hurt the country though it would). President Ford's only real, positive accomplishment was to pardo Richard Nixon, and avoid that particular media circus trial.

But those sanctimonious hypocrites in the mainstream media, who were so upset that the full "facts" did not come out in a Nixon trial: Where are they, and their successors, now? Demorats in Illinois are going so far as to try to deny the Governor "due process" (assuming his guilt), in their effort to avoid even so much as an impeachment trial. The idea of the Democrats of Illinois is clearly to shut down the whole thing as quckly and quietly as possible--tursting that no criminal trial will take place. Who knows what private promises are even now being made to the Governor of Illinois, if he will go quietly. Meanwhile, the mainstream media is not even interested in the cultur of corruption in Chicago and Illinois--as they try to label the Governor as a mental case--an aberration having nothing to do with the culture of corruption in the state, and in the city of Chicago (lol).

This is where this is all very dangerous for Barack "World" Obama. It may explain his transparent lie (about seeing, hearing, speaking and knowing nothing--like Sergeant Schultz in "Hogan's Heroes" and all of those other Germans after World War II). If this scandal blows up into a full examination of corruption in Illinois--an examination which the mainstream media should have done during the Obama campaing--that threatens the very essence of Obama. Emanuel may threaten the very essence of Obama. The media is so desperate to avoid this, that Obama may still get away with it. However, "President Biden" anyone?

I know The though is enough to send chills up your spine। Biden was always more inconceivable as President than Sarah Palin, and remains so. Notice how he has been absolutely invisible in the "transition"?

P.S. "Chicago Thug" is in quotes in the title because it is not my phrase. It is not even Rush Limabugh's phrase (originally), although that is where I picked it up. It did not originate with any right wing source.
