General Motors: Government (Congress) Asserts Its "Rights" as Owner

You know how President Obama has been saying the the government would not "interfere" (as owner) in the business operations of GM and Chrysler? Well, you KNEW that was a crock, as President Obama had already made clear by FIRING the GM CEO and instructing GM on the cars it needed to make (only "green' cares need apply, whether people want them or not).

Well, today's developjments have to convince you that President Obama is a COMIC GENIUS (if only he did not feel the need to keep proving it, as evidenced by his "sudden" dscovery of his Muslim "roots"--see today's entry).

Yes, I am talking about GM and Chrysler having to "explain" to Congress why several thousand dealers are being terminated (all as Wall Street acts like the economy justifies this absurd stock rally).

The mainstream media--always willing to support the Democratic Congress--ssees no irony here. They reported with a straight face the statement by a car dealer: "Every time I take an order, GM makes money; it doesn't cost them anything."

Uh-huh. And I have this inventory of bridges in Brooklyn I want to sell you. Now I don't think this whlesale termination of dealers was done right, but that last statement is another crock.

GM is LOSING MONEY ON EVERY CAR IT SELLS. That means it (and Chrysler) have to DOWNSIZE. Let me see if I can explain this to you and Congress. If you are a business producting 200 widgets, and commit to providing an 200 widgets a month to your dealers, what happens if you downsize so you only can produce 100 widgets a month? Right. You HAVE to cut off dealers. Otherwise, you are still committed to providing 200 widgets a month to support the dealers, while you absolutely cannot provide more than 100 widgets--puting you automatically in breach of contract.

The SMALLER GM and Chrsyler cannot support so many dealers. That is an absolute fact. But the present owners of GM (the government--which Congress considers its own) are not interested in facts). It is irrelevant whether it "costs" GM antyhing to fill an order from a dealer. It costs GM a lot to be able to support a large number of dealers.

The main point is that it is absurd to suggest, as President Obama actually has without a thunderbolt striking him--again calling into question the existence of God--that the government is not going to "interfere" int he business of GM and Chrysler.

This country has gone so far down the road to economic fascism ("partnership" between big business and government) that we no longer even recoginize the absurdity of the government owning our businesses.
