Mexico, A Failed Country: Carnage in Juarez, Although Not Yet in El Paso
Yep. This is yet another dispatch from here on the Mexican border. I am in El Paso, typing this less than 5 miles from Juarez, Mexico (across the Rio Grande from El Paso). I have lived in El Paso most of my adult life. Notice how BRAVE I am, to contnue to brave drug cartel bullets flying across the border into El Paso, while sticking it out here to bring you these dispatches. The El Paso City Hall, downtown El Paso, and the local university (UTEP) have previusly been peppered with stray bullets from gun fights in Juarez. (occurring right across the river, within a stone's throw of El Paso). And does it not ANNOY you for "journalists" to continually brag about how "rabe" they are in Libya, etc., and constantly tell each other to "be safe". Very few mainstream media "journalists" seem to want to operate on a long-term basis in Juarez, Mexico--maybe because the death rate for local journalists there is so high. Yet, there is crnage virtually EVERY DAY in Juarez--usually not reported, while less significan events in Afghanisttan, etc. are reported. This is also agenda related, as the mainstream media has done its best to ignore the carnage in Mexico--for political reasons--until the sheer magnitude of the carnage forced some recognition. SStill, these DAILY murder rampages in Mexico are usually not nationally reported, and certainly not featured. Instead we get stories from the truly despicable Associated lPress about the family of a Mexican dRUG LORD about how badly the drug lord is doing in a Mexican jail (could never make this up--see my blog article of a few weeks ago). Meanwhile, this blog has been telling you, since 2006, that Mexicois a FAILED COUNTRY==another example of blog foresight. Of course, if the mainstream media had wanted to pay attention, the steaday collapse of Mexico was obvious. No, it waws NOT always this bad, and I used to regularly visit Juarez (along with probably a majority of people in El Paso. People with contacts in Juarez (famiy, etc.) still will go there, but it is not longer a thing you do lightly. This brings us to the story in El Paso media at the end of last week. Again, there was a MASSACRE right across the Rio Grande, in a Juarez bar. At least ten people were killed. More than 130 bullet casings were found. And that was not the only murderous attack reported that day. El Paso had less than 10 murders for ALL of 2010. As El Paso media reported, this is not unusual for Juarez (ten people killed in a single shooting). It is a REGULAR EVENT. Last year, Juarez AVERAGED some 8 murders PER DAY (more than 3,000 for the year). And it is not a matter of the PEOPLE who live in Juarez and El Paso. There is really very little difference in the people. El Paso is 85% Hispanic. It is a matter of SYSTEM. Mexico is a failed country, while the United States is not (yet, anyway). Well, you might wish me to "stay safe". Except, of course, we Texans do not need that kind of meaningless pablum. Note again that the above has neither been proofread nor spell checked (eyesight)..
