This blog highlighted one of my favorite "news" stories of the year early in the past week. To refresh our memory, that was the story about how Obama supporters were calling the despicable AP (correct characterization, but not for this reasn) RACIST because an AP transcript of an Obama "speehch" (or extemporaneous statement or whatever) was a transcript of what Obama ACUTALLY SAID, complete with "you knows" and obvous verbal ticks not part of the substance. The AT%T/Yahoo featured story almost explicitly stated that the news service had an OBLIGATION to "clean up" Obama's GRTAMMAR (surely the wrong word, although par for the course in how AT&T/Yahoo presents stories in th emost ridiculous way possible).
Well, those REACISTS are obviously everywhere. You may have heard last week--although perhaps not if you sole source of "news" is the mainstream media, which buried it as quickly and quietly as possible--that Obama sai last week that America has GONE SOFT over the past decades, and that is why we are not really competitive anymore. Yes. Obama appeared to be "off teleprompter", and there were several "you knows" mixed in as Obama seemingly searched for the "right" word. You could almost see the wheels turning in his head. "I =want to blame our problems on everybody but ME, but I am not quite sure how to get out of this sentence. Surely it cannot be right to say 'gone down the wrong path'. It would just be too easy for people to say that America DID go down the wrong path by electing ME."
Thus, Obama came up with "sof". That does not prevent people like me from saying that the election of Obama does indicate (not to mentin the nomination of McCain) that America HAS gone "soft"--in the head for electing Obama (and nominating McCain). But think of the CRUCIFIXION of Mchele Bachmann or Rik Perry if they had said anything like this. You would be hearing abut noting else from the mainstream media. Obama seems clearly to have blamed the AMERICAN PEOPLE for going "soft" on competitiveness, even while accepting no blame himself. Obama, of course, has not only been President, but was elected to the Senate i 2004, and became part of the MAJORITY party in Congress as of January of 2007. This habit of Obama talking like he has not been an INSIDER all of this time is one of those LIES that amaze me.
I digress. It is rather obvious that, if our media were not full of RACISTS, everyone would have CORRECTED what Obama said. It is fairly obvious that Obama did not want to say "soft". It was almost the equivalent of "you know". He was STUCK for a word. Only a RACIST would not CORRECT the word.
There is, of coure, the problem of WHAT word to use in the correction. However, remember that the earlier story this week suggested that a transcript shouldcORRECT GRAMMAR. The whole sentence was a mess. What a NON-RACIST would have clearly done is restructure the entire sentence to blame other POLITICIANS (over the years), so long as OBAMA is clear of blame. Now a real NON-RACIST would have done that, challenging aas it may be, to try to transcribe what Obama eally MEANT.
Hacker Boy (hacknhig into this truly disgraceful blog in the interest of truth, and still denying Skip's assertion that I am connected to Rupert Murdoch or Fox News--as to which I want to say I take OFFENSE at Skip's insistence on referring to us...........I mean them....as the "unfair and unbalanced network"): "Skip has previusly referenced his "sarcaSm disease", and how it keeps recurring. The above represents a major relapse. I would suggest that Skip should go into a rehab center for extensive, lengthy treatment."
Skip: Hacker Boy is, of course, right about the heavy sarcsm in this article, and that it may indeed indicate that my "sarcasm disease" is terminal. However, Hacker Boy shold not think he can get rid of me that easily. Unless FORCED to do so to aovid jail or major disgrace (as is true of politicians and celebrities like Tiger Woods), I have no intention of going away for a month or so just because Hacker Boy wants me gone.
P.S. No proofreading or spell checking (bad eyesight, and maybe a side effect of the sarcasm disease).
