ANWR

I often spell ANWR in this blog the way it is pronounced (ANWAR or Anwar).  I know that is wrong, when I think of it, but that is the way it is pronounced and the way I think of it in my head.

ANWR is an acronym, standing for the Arctic National  Wildlife Refuge.  It really is mostly ice and snow.  More importantly, the whole area is about the size of South Carolina.  The part believed to have a large oil field is a very small part of the entire refuge.  My niece was taken by her mother to an environmental meeting, and was shown pictures of the area.  Her reaction was:  no one needs that desolate place anyway.

Drilling technology is presently such that this oil field (in an area not any bigger than Reagan National Airport within that enormous refuge) could be developed with no real risk sto the environment--certainly not to almost the whole wildlife refuge..

It is INSANE not to ALOW ANWR to be developed.  Even O'Reilly, with his fixation on the evil oil companies and speculators, to the point of irrationality (see earlier entry today) sees no excuse ot to allow drilling in this remote, icy wilderness.

A rose is a rose, by whatever name.  If you understand what ANWR really is, you should realize that there is no excuse to prohibit drilling there--unless you are a leftiset Democrat who does not WANT either more oil or lower gasoline prices (because of "global warming" and Al Gore's RELIGION).
