Health Care and Propaganda

Here is the latest propaganda from the Associated Press (headline and lead paragraph).  NOte how the despicable AP could not simply state factual, good news in the lead paragraph, but felt COMPELLED to make this BAD NEWS in the headline, and in the tagline end to the lead paragraph.  Later in the story, you learn about a significant DECREASE in mortality in the U.S. from major health problems.  Here is the headline and lead:

US Life Expectancy Lags Behind Others

ATLANTA (June 11) - "For the first time, U.S. life expectancy has surpassed 78 years, the government reported Wednesday, although the United States continues to lag behind about 30 other countries in estimated life span."

Q.E.D.  AOL and the despicable Associated Press truly are DESPICABLE.  I assume no one who actually works for those organizations admits it.  I assume these AP bylines are false, allthough here the problem is mainly the HEADLINE (not necessaril, or even likely, the responsibility of the reporter).

What is the STORY here?  It is that life expectancy in the U.S. has gone UP--beyond 78 for the FIRST TIME.  Further, mortality from major health problems has gone DOWN.  That is the "news".   The HEADLINE is nothing but AP/AOL propaganda (trying to turn good news into bad, while suggesting life expectancy is related directly to health care, which it is NOT--genetics, lifestyle, etc. have a much greater effect once you attain a basic level of health care).

In the "1984" world of the Associated Press and AOL--the world of the propaganda Big Lie--"good" becomes "bad", and the facts are irrelevant.  If you know anyone who works for either AOL News or the AP, you should SHUN them.
