Pandemics and Alex Rodriguez: Insanity Piled Upon Insanity

The World Health Organization today declared swine flu a "pandemic", after even the mainstream media had pretty mcuh given up on swine flu as a bust of a story.

Remember the "bird flu" scare a few years ago (which surfaced from time to time over the several years since the scare first appeared)? Remember SARS? Remember how President Bush, trying to make up for Katrina, promised that we would be READY for a flue pandemic, which otherwise might kill TENS OF THOUSANDS of people like the flu pandemics of the 1920's?

Well, forget it. It turns out a "pandmic" is not so bad. In fact, it is just a name for a new (mild) strain of the regular flu.

Yes, we have lost another word to Orwell's "1984", being recreated in the Age of Obama. Words no longer have any real meaning. "Pandemic" no longer refers to a KILLER disease causing massive deaths, but to a mild new flu strain causing fewer deaths than already existing flu strains cause in an ordianry flu season.

"Wait a minute", you say, "the World Health Organization was merely applying a "scientific"definition of "pandemic". That has nothing to do with the severity of the disease." Uh-huh. You did know abut that PANDEMIC out there of both oral and gential herpes? You mean the WHO has not declared that a "pandemic"? Gee, I wonder why not.

When the mainstream media was trying to SCARE us about a KILLER pandemic, were we told that it might mean merely the normal flu, or a flu strain even milder than most former flu strains? Not on your life. We were sold a meaning of pandemic which created an image of people dying like flies. Now it turns out that a "pandemic" is nothing to fear at all. This is all about MONEY, and scare, and we are truly living in some Orwellian world where no word keeps its meaning so long as leftists with an agenda want to give it a new one. In this case they may have changed the meaning TWICE. Once, to get us scared about an image of a pandemic killing us all, and then back again to merely a normal new disease spreading around the globe. Yet, they still want to retain elements of the SCARE, for the MONEY and the POWER. This is truly insanity.

Bottom line: The WHO declaring of swine flu a "pademic" means NOTHING, except to devalue the word forever as being a useful one to use in discussing the severity of a disease problem.

Then there is poor Alex Rodriguez. Don't you think he makes too much moneY? I do. Does he really "deserve" the money he is making? I don't think so (as the attorney general of Connecticut used as a justification for suing to make AIG executives give back their contractual bonues, Alex Rodriguez may have a CONTRACT, but he does not "deserve" the money). Rodriguez is evidently batting around .230, and he has NEVER helped a team win a world championship. Do you doubt that the man should give back most of the money?

I can fell your puzzlement. What does the "value" of Alex Rodriguez have to do with the price of tea in China. Well, part of the Age of Obama "news" today is that the Obama Admistration is looking at ways of limiting executive compensation in PRIVATE industry (bailout companies no longer being private industry). Can Alex Rodriguez be far behind. Of course, it may not matter because poor Alex may not get to keep much of his money anyway under tax policy in the new Age of Obama.

What business of the government is it how much money Alex Rodriguez makes, or the CEO of Exxon/Mobil? None, of course. EVen Roosevelt did not try to say otherwise, in the Great Depression. But there are now no limits to the CONTROL the Obama Administration wants over every aspect of our lives.

You want to know the EXCUSE for this new "trial balloon" power grab? Supposedly, the Obama Administration wasnts to blame the present recession, in part, on excessive executive compensatin. Hogwash, of course. Even if true, it would merely be a darn good reason to LET THESE COMPANIES FAIL (rather than bailing them out). This is all merely a grab for further government control. I have warned Alex Rodriguez before to watch out, but I now think his danger is critical. The real motivation here remainst government control and class warfare, and people like Alex Rodriguez will not reamin immune from scrutiny for long. After all, he CHEATED (with steroids, ven if they were then legal, as were the AIG bonuese). Who wants to defend a CHEATER?

Insanity. All insanity.

And I have not even mentioned the bill about to pass Congress giving the FDA the power to REGULATE tobacco (which would have to include the power to BAN it, or at least restrict it so severely as to amount to a ban on present tobacco products). Prohibition anyone?

What about alcohol? Is alcohol not a dangerous drug--MORE dangerous than tobacco and nicotine? Sure it is. It is a KILLER. Are we headed back in that direction--in the leftist name of government control instead of in the name of stopping "sin"? It would appear so. If the FDA should have the right to "regulate" tobacco, and the way tobacco is sold and marketed, why not alcohol? I see no difference. Now alcohol is regulated, in some ways, but not the kind of all pervasive, nazi regulation visualized by Democrats for tobacco. Meanhile these industrial grade hypocrites would like to LEGALIZE marijuana, and pretty much give up on the war against cocaine and heroin. Oh, I amidt that they would be happy to REGULATE marijuana, especially to get revenue, since that is what these people DO.

Insanity. And it is getting WORSE (soemthing I did not think possible after Wednesday, a week ago).
