This is a follow up on my entry a few days ago, with a similar title. The reference to the despicable AP is merely my dig at the disgraceful AP IMPACT stories--usually with false headlines. See the explanation in that previous entry.
I explained in the original entry why it is a LIE that Obama really admitted his "Muslim faith. HOWEVER. I was misled by the media accounts of Obama's slip of the tongue, which is why I am doing this follow up.
Obama was talking to George Stephanapolous of ABC about the alleged smears going around about Obama's "connectioins" to the Muslim faith. In my opinion, despite the media spin, Obama said EXACTLY what he meant to say. But George Stephanapolous stepped in to protect Obama because he realized Obama had said something that left him open to attack. Here is what Obama said, as I have now heard a TAPE of it:
"It is true that McCain has never talked about my Muslim faith." Here is where Stephanapolous stepped in. Contrary to what I said in my first entry, based on media reporsts, it was NOT Obama how immediately "corrected" himself. It was STEPHANAPOLOUS how stepped in to protect Obama,. by interrupting: "your Christina fatih". At that point, Obama (a little off stride) picks up the cue and says: "my Christian faith".
But that is NOT what Obama meant to say. Let us insert "my Christian faith" in the origninal sentence: "It is true that McCain has never talked about my Christian faith." Does that make any sense? Of course it doesn't. Obama MEANT to say "my Muslim fatih." The only problem was that it was an INARTFUL pharse--somewhat ambiguous. It is still true that Obama was NOT admitting to having a Muslim faith. He was TRYING to say that McCain has never talked about "my ALLEGED Muslim faith", but he left out "alleged". Showing how dim mainstream media people are, Stephanapolous picked up on the PROBLEM, but not the right reason for the problem. Thus, he made Obama "correct" to a NONSENSE word. However, in the process, he saved Obama from some grief, which was his real purpose. That seems to be the mantra of the mainstream media now: "We don't care if we get it right, so long as our agenda is advanced."
Is this imprtant? Well, it is not important as to Obama. IT was STILL a slip of the tongue--not a real "admission" by Obama. And I still think that Obama's alleged Muslim connections are a smear, and irrelevant. I do admit that I have been TEMPTED to just take the leftist positon that the end justifies the means, given the truly EVIL personal attacks by CNN and the rest on the RELIGION of Sarah Palin--opening their networks to left wing blogs at least as bad as those right wing blogs labeling Obama as a Muslim. However, I refuse to lower myself to that level. I prefer to talk about how evil THEY have become.
The importance here is what this reveals about ow far the mainstream media will try to go to protect Obama, even if it means protecting him from a slip of the tongue he did not make. I call it a "slilp of the tongue" above. It really wasn't. It was a slip of the mind. Obama said the WORD that he meant to say. It is just that it came out differently than he meant it to come out, because he left out a clarifying word.
Interesting though, isn't it, how the mainstream media reacts with regard to Obama. One wonders how they would react to a similar slip by Palin Okay. "One" does NOT wonder. We know the vicious way they would react to a similar slip by Palin. We know that they would try to destroy her with it, instead of trying to protect her from saying what she did not men to say.
