Iran: Obama and Bush Failure--a Bad, Disastrous Failure

One of the news items in the last day or two has been a report thant Iran is only TWO MONTHS from being able to develop an operational nuclear weapon.

Doesn't matter. Oh, it matter a LOT whehter Iran develops a nuclear weapon (or, rather, weapons). That will be an absolute disaster for the world and the Middle East. But it does not matter whether Iran is two months away or two years away. The point is that we ar doing NOTHING to stop it. In other words, our lack of actgion is making it inevitable that this disaster is going to take place--unless Israel luanches a major attack.

Yes, I know Obama (and others) talk about "sanctiions". But it is absurd to contend that sanctions are doing any good. In fact, look at Libya (much weaker and more isolated than Iran). Obama seems to have even given up the PRETENSE (as Liar-in-Chief) that sanctioins are really ging to force Gadhafi out in Libya. Rather, NATO and Obama are simply telling Gadhafi that they are going to MILITARILY force him out. Gadhafi is, in fact, an oject lesson of the mistake of waiting too long to take action. Wehn Gadhafi was reeling, we could have brought about his downfall with almost a boy scout with a bb gun. Instead, we WAITED until Gadhafi had almost defeated the rebels, and THEN we attacked. Yes, we may still be able to force Gadhafi out, but how many more people have DIED because we did it wrong? If we were going to act, we needed to do so at the right time. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that we have already missed our main opoortunities with Iran, and that we no longer have any good alternatives.

Obama, of course, being all about--and only about--WORDS, merely says that we won't allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. That, and abut $5, will get lyou a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Obama is doing NOTING to STOP Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Unfortunagelly, neither did George W. Bush.

Is it not ironic that we may have to regard IRAQ as Bush's main foreign policy SUCCESS, along with the general war on Terror? It may be even more ironic that Obama, even while undercutting the policy with WORDS denying the threat of Islamic extremism, has had his major foreign polilcy success in FOLLOWING THE BUSH POLICY on Iraq, Afghanistan, and the War on Terror (although refusing to use that term, until killing Osama bin Laden made it politically useful). Meanwhile, Iran is the 500 pound gorilla in the room, and we are acting helpless to do anything about Iran.

No. I see no way both Obama and Bush can ignore the DISASTER of each's policy toward Iran. Sure, Bush was better at RHETORIC--not, of course, eloquence, but letting Iran know that we OPPOSE thm. Obama, on the other hand, has tried (off and on) to COZY up to the mad rulers of Iran--including NOT supporting the protests after Iran's fraudulent election. However, as far as Iran's nuclear weapons--or prospective nuclear weapons---are concerned, Bush and Obama are BOTH utter and complete failures. Yes, this is yet another reason I disowned President Bush in 2006. His domestic policy was a disaster, and his policy on Iran and North Korea an utter failure. As I have said repeatedly, the bunny thing is that it is OBAMA--not conservatives--who has followed those FAILED domestic and foreign policies--who can really be regarded as conducting Bush's Third Term. This is actually not surprising, since Obama and the Democrats CONTROLLED CONGRESS beginning in January of 2007, and Obama policies date from THEN rather than from when Obama became President. I wish Republicans would say that. No, I think it is COWARDLY to avoid saying that Bush and Obama are not that far apart on domestic policy, and that Obama has continued the WORST of the Bush/Democrat policies that have put us into the hole we are in.

Yes, Obama has actually continued--ihn terms of actions rather than words--the BEST of the Bush policies in the War on Terror, including what at least seems to be a moderate, if costly, SUCCESS in Iraq. Too bad that on both economic and foreign polilcy matters this country now looks so WEAK--mainly because of policy failures that ACCELERATED in the Bush/Democrat policies of the last two years of the Bush Administrationi, and continued to further accelerate under Obama. Agan, when are REPUBLICANS going to start blaming Democrats for being in CONTROL since January of 2007 (with Repubicans having betrayed conservative princiiples even before that)?
