Hurricane Ike Update: Fox News Continues To LIE

Have you doubted me when I said that Fox News coverage (and all TV coverage) of Hurricane Ike, and all hurricanes, is so hyped as to be an evil, scare thing?  You should have learned better by now (than to doubt me).

Correct NEWS on Ike right now:  Hurricane Ike may NOT hit the United States.

Fox News LIE on Ike:  "There is Big Trouble (you can hear the caps in the voice) brewing out in the Atlantic, as Hurricane Ike is on a path to hit the U.S."

My headline is correct, as would be the useless, scare headline:  "Hurricane Ike MAY hit the United States."  The Fox News hype is a LIE.

How can I say Fox Nes is LYING to you?  Easy.  They are. Yes, Hurricane Ike is on a path where it COULD hit the U.S., and obviously has to be watched.  It is also on a path where it may NOT hit the United States.  The CORRECT news is that it is TOO EARLY TO TELL.  It is an absolute, indefensible, scare LIE to say that "Hurrincane Ike is on a path the hit the United States."  Is there anything about "too early to tell" that Fox News does not understand?  What is wrong with giving the FACTS, instead of trying to scare people?

Again, as a public service, I give you the real news on Hurricane Ike from the National Hurricane Center, which is tracking the Category Four storm:

"IKE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 17 MPH...28 KM/HR...AND
A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE WEST AND WEST-SOUTHWEST IS EXPECTED OVER
THE NEXT 48 HOURS.  ON THIS TRACK THE HURRICANE WILL CONTINUE TO
MOVE OVER THE OPEN WATERS OF THE WEST-CENTRAL ATLANTIC DURING THE
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.  IT IS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE WHAT LAND AREAS
MIGHT EVENTUALLY BE AFFECTED BY IKE."

I have accused cable TV, and the media in general, of ROOTING for hurricanes.  They prove it every day.  Read the above paragraph from the National Hurricane Center's most recent "public advisorty" on Ike, and then ask yourself who is telling you the TRUTH here?  Is it Fox News or ME?  Hint;  It is NOT Fox News.

P.S.  My older daughter, Kenda, the Boston lawyer who does not agree with me that much, tells me she was accused of being "pro-hurricane" for suggesting(correctly) that the coverage of Hurricane Gustav wa over the top (even though Gustav WAS a danger to New Orleans).  As I say above, it is NOT Kenda or me how is pro-hurricane".  It is those media people, and others, who are so OBSESSED with hurricanes that they appear to be rooting for them.  Somehow, we have to get over this OBSESSION, and get a little perspective.  In its own way the OBSESSION with scare, doom and gloom is as unhealthy as ignoring the threat posed by hurricanes.
