Harry "Dirty Oil" Reid surfaced with some remarks last week that sort of disappeared in the extensive political news of the last few weeks.
You will remember that "Dirty Oil" got his nickname by suggesting that oil was a "dirty" substance better left in the ground--fully revealing that the Democratic excuses for not drilling are mere shams. Leftist Democrats do not WANT lower gasoline prices, but want us to STOP using oil (even at enormous economic cost).
Well, "Dirty Oil" Reid did it again. He said that oil has been responsible for many of the wars and conflicts over the past 100 years. The example he cited was interesting, because it illustrated how stupid he really is. Reid said that Hitler invaded Russia FOR OIL in World War II. Well, it is probably more complicated than that, and may have had as much to do with Hitler wanting to get Stalin before STalin got him---lack of trust between monsters). Still there is a lot of truth in the idea.
But WHY did Hitler need more oil? It is because he had ALREADY started World War II. It is ridiculous to say oil CAUSED World War II. War machines did, and still, run mainly on oil based fuel. So what.
In the twisted mind of "Dirty Oil" Reid, this means that oil is an EVIL thing. That attitude is how he got his nickname. The lesson that Reid SHOULD have gotten from World War II is that you have to stop evil EARLY, or it is going to cost you millions of lives to stop it LATE. Leftists, however, never seem to get that lesson (although FDR did).
Again, the main point here is that Harry Reid does not WANT us to have domestic oil production. He does not WANT us to use gasoline or oil at all. To him, oil is an EVIL thing (which it is not, of course, being one of the primary bases of our industrial civilization). That means that "Dirty Oil" Reid WANTS higher gasoline prices if it means using less oil.
