Should it be a capital crime for a politician to even mention (with approval) the term "Infrastructure Bank"? I think so (at least to the extent of being dead in a political sense). In fact, should even an ordinary citizen be ostracized (on the same basis as, say, using the "N" word for black people) for using this term? Again, I think so.
Just how bad a concept is the "Infrastructure Bank"? Let me put it this way: I saw about a minute of MSNBC at one point today, and they were saying how horrible it is that Congress has left town without dealing with really important, AGREED things like the proposed Infrastructure Bank". Now I am not calling on you to ostracize MSNBC. Almost everyone is already doing that. But for MSNBC to throw this ATROCITY into a discussion as "agreed" shows just how much the left wants this "camel's nose under the tent" absurdity to happen. It also shows how FEW Republicans (I hope and would pray, if I were a Christian) MSNBC really listens to. Agreed? I dont think so. What has happened is that a few of the "usual suspects" (Senate establishment Republicans) have talked favorably about this concept. Yep. . Yet another confirmation that every single Senate Republican in office before 2010, with the possible exception of Jim Demint, should be DEFEATED. I saw Orin (sp.? I don't care) Hatch today--not on this subject--say that he intends to win reelection. Dream on, Orin. Not if the people of Utah have any sense. I digress (not really).
Yes, this is yet another example of the foresight of this blog. I have told you for months that this "Infrastructure Bank" is a MAJOR push by Obama and the left, AND by a certain part of the Republican establishment (the economic fascists in Wall Street and government previuisly responsible for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) who believe ie a "partnership" between government and Big Business out of which Big Business can make MONEY.
Yes, this blog has previously told you that you should regard ANY Republican who buys into tis economic fascism as DEAD to you. Whether you follow that good advice or not, I have stated that any such Republican is DEAD TO ME--forever.
Nope. This is NOT a new idea. There is nothing new under the sun. It is really just a variation of Alexander Hamilton's l"National Bank". That argument was long ago "settled" in America--the nail in the coffin being provided by Andrew Jackson, I believe, although I can get these things mixed lup as to names). Still, the LEFT has never given up on the idea. I have mentioned in a previoius article the LEFTIST author of a history of the "War of 1812", who talked favorably of the ideas of Alexander Hamiltion (the man who would be king, and one of the great villains of early American politics--however "brilliant" he might have been). It is interesting to note that REPUBLICANS (yes, the party is that old--dating to the very beginning, with Thomas Jefferson) began pushing the Hamiltonian idea of a National Bank at the time of the War of 1812. Why? For the very same reason it is being pushed today. Republicans did not know how to finance the Waar of 1812 without new general taxes (not, of course, an income tax which did not yet exist), as Republicans (then, as now) oposed higher taxes. The proposed revival of the National Bank would be a way o FINANCE the Federl Government without raising taxes (as loans from independent sources were becoming hard to obtain). Yes, you could argue that the Federal Reserve has become more and more of a National Bank, with even more extgensive poewer, but that is another issue (on which I have begun to sympathize more and more with Ron Paul, wihut his obsession).
What were Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Right , They were noting more or less than National Mortgage Banks: quasi-government (lol) entities designed to FINANCE an overly expansive housing policy without direct government funds. You know what happened. It turns out that the American taxpayer was on the hook for Fannie and Freddie--that those "quasi-government" entities were backed by the full faith and credit of the American taxpayer. Fannie and Freddie almost destroyed the country, and may yet be seen to have accomplished that destruction. (along with the economic fascists on Wall Street who bought into the idea that this "state capitalism" was a great way to make a lot of money, especailly if you made sure and leverage properly with new instruments and by going even beyond the ridiculous government guarantees), Even now, Fannie and Freddie have as much total debt (for which WE are on the hook) as the entire Federal Government--with it really being unknown how much of that debt will be covered by mortgage assets. We seill don't know how to unwind from Fannie and Freddie--now totally government entities (having gone bankrupt as "private" entities) which still dominate the housing market by king mortgages.
How could any SANE person propose another such entity, after Fannie and Freddie? Easy. These are NOT SANE PEOPLE. Yes, I include you economic fascist Republicans in that description. At least Democrats know what they are doing. They are TRYING to increase the size of government by DECEPTIONI. You economic fascists out there, who think you can run the country for your own economic interest and CONTROL government, have no such excuse. By any definition, you are INSANE. Now you know what I think of you, if it was not already obvioius.
Agreed? It better not be. This is one of the many itfalls out there that would make me walk away from the Republican Party FOREVER, wihout regret and without looking back. There are so many of these pitfalls out there now that I don't believe that the leadership exists in the Republican Party to avoid them. I hope I am wrong, but the odds are still at least 80-20 that the whole Republican Party is going to be dead to me before the end of this year.
You may not think so, but this blog does not really discuss POLITICS that much. Yes, I will often discuss POLITICIANS, and political ISSUES. But you will not see this blog going too far into the "politics" of a decisioin. As I have often shown you, polls (the primary method today of discussing the "politics" of policy) are EVIL tings with which no one should cooperate. I believe lthat one of the evils of our time is worring too much about the political effect of what is happening, instaed of CORRECT policy. That is what I mean by 'politics" in tis paragraph: Worrying about the political effect of what you do instead of about what you should do--worriing only about EXPLAINING why you have done right honestly, instead of how you can deceive politically.
lBut this one amazes me almost as much as "high speed rail" and "green jobs". How many people out there do you know who are saing: "Gee, we really need an Infrastructure Bank"?
If you listen to MSNBC regularly (say it ain't so!!!), you may know a fair number of such people. I do not know ANY. No one I know knows of ANY. I am sure my high powered East Coast lawyer daughters have NO CLUE as to what that even is. What makes ANY Republican or Democrat believe that this is an idea that will really help them politically? Nope. If anyone really believes tahat an "Infrastructure Bank" will "turn around" the job picture in time to help with the next electin, then those people have been smoking something we really should be conducting a more effective war against. This is a political LOSER. At best, it will just be dismissed as unimportant by the people at large (until, like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, it destroys the country). I don't see how anyone but a True Believer (in both government and the concept of economic fascism) could ever be interested in this concept.
Agreed? It better not be.
"But Skip, you have not told us what an 'Infrastructure Bank' is? Right. That is because I have told you all that you need to know. The details are unimportant. It is the CONCEPT that is fatally flawed. Plus. Remember Nancy Pelosi and the health care bill: "We need to pass it so that we can learn what is in it." Did yoiu, or almost anyone, really realize the MONSTERS that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were becoming (inherent in the way they were set lup to operate)? I don't think you did. Even I, who was more aware than most of you of the danger, had no idea just how MUCH Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were coming to dominate the morttgage industry, and the lack of standards in the mortgage industry. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were set up to support an insane government policy that EVERYONE should own a home--no matter what their economic status. This concept lmay yet prove to have destroyued this country. The proposed Infrastructure Bank would be specifically designed fo push the idea that EVERYONE should have a great road and a great bridge, without really paying for it (not to mention a great airport, which is part of the FAA absurdity I will get to in a future article). I can't tell you how dangerous this CONCEPT is.
High speed rail? Infrastructure Bank? Green jobs (instead of developing proven energy resources available to us at reasonable cost)? Who could elect this man President of the United States AGAIN? No, I will never vote for him. But yes, I have a strong feeling I may be one of those who help him get elected again, as I did in 2008, by OPPOSING the Republican as well.
I jsut refuse to stand for "politics as usual". Our country will not be saved that way, and I don;t seee any difference if Obama presides over the ultimage destruction or a Republican prsides over it, except this: If Obama presides over it, the LEFT gts blamed. So why help elect a Republican who will not save us? I see no reason to do so, or at least no reason to fear another Obama term more than another disastrous Republican term. Well, there IS the reason of the Supreme Court. But strong as I feel about abortion (for one), I just cnnot vote for the SLIGHTLY lesser evil anymore. "Politics as usual" is just not good enough.
I do not think, by the way, that the Infrastructure Bank will happen. It tells you how badly I regard Republican politicians that I am NOT SURE, however, that MSNBC is merely spouting leftist propaganda (as usual). I have that little trust in the Republican Party (politician kind).
P.S. No proofreading or spell checking (bad eyesight, which a mere vacation was not going to improve).
