Martin Luthor King, Jr. Reverend Wright and the Vietnam War Memorial

A story featrued tonight on AOL is about a "controversy" over the propsed statue of Martin Luthor King Jr. (something about it looking too militant).

I refuse to get excited about a statue.  People get too worked up over the trappings of these vaiorus memorails (often because of a personal agenda or meir personal ego).  See "The Long Gray Line" as to the vicious infighting over the Vietnam War Memorial.  There are disputes over the Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania.  There are, of course, dipustes about the 9/11 meorial in New York City.  The vehemence with which involved in these disputes is somewhat sordid, unsavory and generally unworthy of the sumbjects of the memorials (even if the people involved think that they are trying to uphold the memory that others are trying to besmirch).

That said, I do think that there are SOME people who have recently done their best, or worst, to DISHONOR and besmrich the memory of Dr. King.  Those are the people who defended Reverend Wright by asserting that Dr. King had said things just AS BAD.  Talk about TRASHING Dr King's memory for no reason!!!  No thinking person was going to think better of Reverend Wright because of quotes from Dr. King.  Some might be induced to think WORSE of Dr. King.   In comparison, this statue is minor league stuff.

P.S.  See last week's award of the Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate to those people who chose leftists who chose to defend Reveredn Wright by trashing the memory of Dr. King.
