I saw Dan Quayle interviewed by Greta Van Susteren (see previous entry as t how I was roped into Greta's program by Bret Favre "news"--she did a series of interviews--and stayed for a few items). Dan Quayle was Vice President under Bush 41, and the media portrayed him as a lightweight.
What sturck me about the interview was how much more of an OBJECTIVE heavyweight Dan Quayle was (is?) than Barack Obama. Quayle served multiple terms in the House of Representatives, and a full term in the Senate (or most of a term).
The media tried to portray Quayle as a lightweight because of some exaggerated "stupid" things he said. But Quayle (I lived through it). NEVER said anything as stupid as there being 57 states, or 1000 people killed in a Kansas tornado that killed only a few more than 10. Quayle never said anything as stupid as Obma's statement that parents should worry about their own children learning Spanish rather than about illegal immigrants/immigrants learning English. The examples just go on and on. There was that San Francisco statement about "clinging to guns and religion", and opposing free trade because because of frustration (the reason Obama opposes the Columbia free trade deal?). The list just keeps going, and you can consult the arcives of this blog for almost daily examples.
In what way can you say that Can Quayle was NOT more qualified to be President than Barack Obama (yes, Quayle ran for only Vice President, but that is the POINT)? Obama reads a teleprompter better. That is IT. In terms of accomplishments, Quayle was much better qualified to be President. Even comparing stupid statements, Quayle was more qualified to be President.
