Death Penalty, Vermont and Barack Obama

The despicable Associated Press, and AOL--which routinely feature anti-death penalty propaganda from lfeftist groups; see arechives of this blog--are breathlessly reporting that the person who apparently kidnapped, raped and tortured that 12 year old girl in Vermont may face the death penalty.

This story may surprise you.  Vermont is now as LEFTIST a state as they come.  Child rapists there routinely get off with little or no punishment. The state ELECTED HOWARD DEAN governor.  There are few states more likely to go for Barack Obama--KNOWING that he will appoint Federal judges likely to abolish the death penalty.  (See previous entry abut how Obama cynically wants to rely on Federal judges to enact his leftist agenda, without the necessity of taking political heat himself)

How can leftist Vermont have the DEATH PENALTY?  As far as I can tell, it doesn't.  FEDERAL kidnapping charges have been filed.  The FEDERAL statute provides for a possible death penalty in the case of kidnapping resulting in death.  Is it LIKELY the Federal Government will execute anyone--especially if Obama gets elected, but even if hes does not?  Don't be silly.

Lucky she died, isn't it, rather than being maimed by torture and/or having her entire life ruined--in which case the U.S. Supreme Court has decided it is unconstitutional to impose the death penalty, no matter how extreme the rape of a child.

You should also be comforted--NOT--by the idea that Democrats like Obama appoint Supreme Court justices that make that kind of decision.  Yes, Obama DID issue a statement (cyncal as they come) "opposing" that particular Supreme Court decision as to the death penalty for childrapists (that statement, and $5.00, will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks, if you can now find a Starbucks). Obama, of course, KNOWS that the kind of judges he willl appoint will favor ELIMINATING the death penalty for ALL crimes, including this one.

P.S.  If you don't understand the reference to Starbucks, see earlier entries today.
