Obama Runs For Bush's Thrid Term

You think I am exaggerating.  I am not.  Obama, just in the past few days, said that he favors a "gradual, responsible" withdrawal from Iraq.  I was gong to say I may have missed something, but the fact is that I don't miss much.  That is BUSH'S PRESENT POLICY ON IRAQ.  Obama has embraced free trade (sort of--see today's entry).  He SAYS he is for TAX CUTS (okya, "middle class" tax cuts, but he has waffled on the capital gains tax and is coming around to almost every Bush position).  Now Obama has EMBRACED Bush's "faith based" initiative, and promised to EXPAND it (under a new name).  By the time he is through, Obama is going to be running for Bush's third term more clearly than McCain ever has.  This guy is a JOY for someone like me.

Obama is actually a FUN candidate, as I knew he would be.  There is Obama vs. Obama on free trade (see blog entry today asking:  Are opponents of free trade HICKS, including Obama himself, and what message did Obama really convey to the Canadians?)

But this one is priceless.   Remember all of those leftist Democrats (I remember no SUPPORT from Obama) who RIDICULED and SCORNED President Bush's "faith based" initiative, and called it a violation of the separation of church and state?  The leftists in the mainstream media alone are going to get WHIPLASH trying to justify Obama on this one.  But I have confidence in leftists.  YES THEY CAN.  They can believe a hundred impossible things before breakfast (apologies to Lewis Carroll), and their brains are uncluttered with logic or consistency.

Still, it is FUN to watch the contortions to explain why Bush's program was EVIL, while Obama's is GOOD--not to mention explaining why there was little "reaching across the aisle" on Bush's program.

Remember that Obama obviosly favors judicial restraint.  He came out AGAINST theSupreme Court on execution of child rapists.  Surely, he is not being a HYPOCRITE and suggesting that a judicial decision is wrong, and then intending to appont judges who will make the same kind of decision?

I think Democrats should abandon this idea of trying to twist McCain into a clone of Bush running for Bush's third term.  It is time to appeal driectly to CONSERVATIVES (as this "faith based" idea is obviously meant to appeal to evangelicals and the "Crhistian Right").  I think it is time for this ad headline:  "If you like President Bush--a Big Government guy of FAITH--yoiu will LOVE Barack Obama."  Then the follow up ad:  "If yoyou HATE the ACLU, and the way it distorts the Constitution, you will LOVE Barack Obama."

U.S. deaths are now about EQUAL in Afghanistan and Iraq, because deaths are way down in Iraq and increasing, to some degree, in Afghanistan.  Obama has previously suggesting INVADING Pakistan border areas in Afghanistan, even if Pakistan does ot give permission, to go after the Taliban.  Can it be long before Obama endroses the Bush policy toward IRAN?

Nope.  Really.  Obama is pretty much now running for Bush's third term.
