Barack Obama's Big Lie

You don't even have to take my word for it (although you should).  The Collumbia School of Journalism has called Barack Obama on a 1984 type Big Lie about John McCain--a Big Lie that leftists have spread all over the internet, and elsewhere.  Obama has used it more than onece, without any challenge from the mainstream media--the same media that is openly rooting for Obama to be elected President.

You know the lie.  Obama tends to use it whenever John McCain says anything about being more qualified than Obama to handle national security.  Obama's rejoinder:  "At least I am not saying that we need to conduct a 100 year war in Iraq"--or words to that effect.

Neither has John McCain said that.  The Columbia School of Journalism noted that the McCain quote from which this Big Lie is derived could NOT be construed to say any such thing.

McCain was asked a question about how long some American soldiers might be in Iraq.  McCain noted that we have had soldiers in Germany and Japan for more than 60 years after World War II, and in Korea for 50 years.  McCain then said:  "So long as no Americans are being killed or hurt, I don't see any problem with Americans being in Iraq 100 years."   In other words, it was clear that McCain was saying that he did NOT expect a "100 year war", but saw no probblem with Americans staying in Iraq AFTER WE WON THE WAR, and no further hostilities were occurring.

The Columbia people found no excuse for this distortion of what McCain had said.

Puzzle:  WHYdoes McCain not really CONFRONT Obama over this Big Lie?  Oh, McCain has sort of shook his head and said Obama is not being accurate.  But there has not been an AGGESSIVE response (for exmample, merely using the type of language used by the Columbia people).

That is what continues to bother conservatives about McCain.  He is STILL willing to criticize conservative much more harshly than not only leftists, but his own likely opponent.

Nevertheless, even if McCain will not say so, Obama has again exposed himself as a typical, unscrupulous politician willing to DISTORT his opponent's staments to the point of LYING about them, for polical advantage.
