Jimmy Carter is at it again. Remember the recent story where people at his own Carter Center REBELLED because of the anti-Israel statements in Carter's recent book? The man has long been known to be anti-Israel, to the point of suspicion that he is an anti-semite.
Typically, he is making headlines again by meeting with Hamas--a TERRORIST organization. Carter is the same person who has lent his "prestige" (I know, WHAT "prestige") to the insane leaders of Iran, North Korea, and Syria--not to mention Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.
All Hamas has to do is suggest that it MIGHT acknowlege the "right" of Israel to exist, provided, of course, that Israel meets "conditions", and Carter immediately suggests that it is all up to Israel to show a willingness to "negotiate" (the same kind of stuff Careter has said with regard to IRAN; what should scare you is that OBAMA has said essentially the same thing about giving legitimacy to terrorists by "talking" to them in settings that merely enhance their "street cred" in their region).
Remember Jimmy Carter? He is a prime candidate for worst President of all time. President Bush is not even close. Under Carter, interest rates went above TWENTY PERCENT. Inflaton went to 15% or so. Oil prices went to approximately the same level they are now (adjusted for inflation), at a time we were MORE dependent on oil.
Our EMBASSY was held hostage by Iran--for about a YEAR. Carter sent a "rescue" mission consisting of FOUR (count 'em: FOUR) helicopters. This "rescue mission" was sent across the desert, and the helicopters broke down in the sand. I think they were left burning wrecks out there in the desert: monuments to the WORST President in my lifetime, and perhaps the worst there ever was. The hostages had to wait for the election of Ronald Reagan to come home. Carter was totally ineffectual as President--totally out of his depth. He has been even more of an embarrassment as an ex-President--a loose cannon speaking and acting against his own country around the world, as he has aided and abetted our enemies.
Scary note: Carter was probably BETTER qualified to be President of the Untied States than Obama (admittedly, it is close, as Carter had only been governor of Georgia, but the HAD been a U.S. Navy officer on U.S. submarines--boy, was the Navy glad to get rid of HIM). There are any number of indications that Obama is another Carter in the making--with potential to be even worse. Carter, after all, was no great orator (as Obama can sometimes be). But Carter did have a compensating, misleadingly clean, prsonal life and ability to seem "sincere" (concealing a truly monumental incompetence and quirky world view). Perhaps it said more about the inability of Carter to separate reality from fantasy--the important from the unimportant--that Carter once made a big pont of confessing "lust in his heart" for a woman not his wife, as being the moreal equivalent of adultery. I KNOW that may be the official position of many "born again Christians" of the Carter type, but--in Carter's case--I think it showed an inability to face reality squarely. For Careter, it has always been about HIM--about how HE is the one who has the moral high ground at all times, even as he is exhibiting truly breathtaking incompetence.
From bad to worse: The TAXPAYER provides money to support the Carter Center. The Carter Center, in turn, gives Carter as stamp of approval (despite that rebellion) he does not deserve. In fact, for the U.S. taxpayer to provide money to the Carter Center puts us AlL in the position of supporting Carter's anti-American activities around the world--including this latest farce with Hamas. A Republican congressman has proposed a bill to abolish taxpayer funding of the Carter Center. It is one of those pieces of legislation which should be passed by acclamtion (and would, if Democrats had not become so captive to the extreme left to which Carter caters).
The Carter Center is just a minor example of taxpayer funds funneled to leftist organizations (inclulding, as one example, Planned Parenthood). Many of these organizations receiving taxpayer funds are vehement foes of RELIGION in this country, and religious organizations (esepecially the "Christian Right"). That is one of many reason that I have no problem with minor amounts of taxpayer money going to "faith based" organizations. It does not even come close to leveling the playing field, as the left learned long ago to suck at the public tit for all they are worth.
Don't you feel good that YOU (if you are a taxpayer) are providing funds to perpetuate the legacy of Jimmy Carter? It actually makes me feel sick.
