Secretary of Defense Gates: Wimps to the Right

Bernie Goldberg lhas a book out with a title something like "Crazies to the Left of Me; Wimps to the Right of Me".  You may rightly suspect that there are not that many people to the right of ME, except on isolated issues, but aren't you tired of wimpy Repubicans?  I am.

"Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday the Air Force is not doing enough to help in the Iraq and Afghanistan war effort, complaining that some military leaders are "stuck in old ways of doing business."

The above is an AP/AOL featured story today.  Even the despicable AP is probably not making this up.

Not impressed.  Gates is Secretary of Defense.  The U.S. Air Force is UNDER HIM.  So what does this "whining" amount to?  Right.  It amounts to an admission of FAILURE AT GATES' JOB.

When necessary, Lincoln SACKED GENERALS (even with no military experience himself, and when at least one of those generals would challege him for the Presidency in 1864).  Gates is obviously no Lincoln.  Okay, Bush isn't either.

A "speech" just doesn't cut it (in the abasence of truly aggressive acompanying action).
