What is onw of my main problems with John McCain? As I have said before, and as he proves several times a week, it is that McCain is much more aggressive in criticizing conservatives than he ever is in criticizing either feftists. or leftist positions.
Take Reverend Wrigt, racist hate monter. The problem with Obama and Reverend Wright, as I have said in the past, is NOT a matter of vague "association", or that Reverend Wright has endorsed Barack Obama. The problem is that OBAMA has impliedly endorsed Reverend Wright, and therefore supported racist hate speech, over a 20 year period.
Segue to Rush Limbaugh and "Operation Chaos". That is the Limbaugh name for his effort to keep the Democratic nomination fight going in order to elect John McCain, even to the point of encouraging Repubican voters to vote for Hilllary Clinton in Democratic primaries.
But what is the stated REASON for "Operation Chaos"? It is that John McCain and the Republicans are too wimpy to take on leftist Democrats directly, while Clinton and Obama are not onlly willing to attack each other, but the media people are willing to give credibility to such attacks. That means that the ONLY way to get attention for conservative criticisms of either Obama or Clinton is as part of the DEMORCRATIC nomination fight. Limbuagh has consistently been proven right on this. For example, in the last debate, Hillary Clinton brought up the association of Obama with Reverend Wright (as I state above, the problem is not that of a vague "association", but of the implied endorsement by Obama of Wright's hate, and wnti-American, speech).
Segue to the Repubican Party in North Carolina. They have DARED to prepare an ad showing Obama and Reverend Wright together, and then showing Reverend Wright making one of his indensible remarks, with a tag line that Obama is "too extreme" for North Carolina. Pretty mild stuff, really. "Too extreme"? What if the ad said what I say aboe: that Obama has impliedly supported Reverend Wright's racist and anti-American hate speech, and deserves to be condemned for it as fully as another politician may be condemned for supporting the similar, racist hate speech of the Ku Klux Klan.
But I saw the IMMEDIAT MSNBC positon on this ad (and this was in surfing MSNBC--a network I never even surf except, as in this case, trying to see the OFFICIAL Obama/leftist reaction to an event like Clinton's victory in Pennsylvania). That leftist position is that the Republican proposed (WHY did they telegraph their intentions?) ad in North Carolina was that it is clearly RACIST. This is because it DARES to show two black men--Obama and Reverend Wright--together, and lthen to associate Obama with the racist, hate remarks of one of those black men (Reverend Wright). This is exactly what Limbaugh predicted would happnen. Further, Limbaugh correctly predicted McCain's reaction (and the general Republican wimpiness).
So Clinton can cricize Obama's "associatioin" with Reverend Wright, while it is racist for the Republican Party to do an ad showing what Clinton is talking about? Rarely as a public figure (Limbaugh) proved SO RIGHT, as McCain immediately picked up the leftist cause. McCain's reaction: that there is "no place" in America for this kind of campaigning. What the Hell does that mean? Well, it means that McCain is unwilling to face up to criticizing Obama as either an extreme leftist, or for impliedly endorsing the racist hate philosophy of Reverend Wright. If not for the Democratic nomination process, it is obvious that this kind of criticism would have gained little tractiion at all, as the media attacked it as RACIST. It is further obvious that McCain has no stomach for standing up to the idea that criticism of Obama is racist (another correct Limbaugh prediction).
I repeat: There is no way I will ever vote for McCain for any office, much less President of the United States. I believe that he will be an unmitigated disaster, for conservatives as well as the country, as President. He proves it every day, from "global warming" to this sort of thing. You could not make me vote for the man if you held a gun at my head (and Obama as the opposing candidate is at least as bad as holding a gun at my head).
Okay. We know that the Republican Party in Nort Carolina is going to be accused of racist campaigning, "in the tradition of Jesse Helms". But if you are going to let the opposition frame the terms of debate by that sort of intimidation, as McCain is perfectly willing to do, you have been defeated before you start. I have not seen the full North Carolinea ad, and therefore do not automatically endorse the whole thing. But the idea that showing Obama with Reverend Wright, and quoting Reverend Wright's hate speech, is RACIST is nothing but a Soviet style Big Lie. To buy into that leftist Big Lie (if we say it often enoubh, people will believe it is true) is to concede defeat, in advance, in advocating your position (in this case, the position that Obama has shown himself to be an extreme leftist willing to endorse racist hate speech for political gain).
If Rush Limbaugh did not exist, conservatives would have to invent him. His rationale for "Opeation Chaos" is right on target. I guess that McCain hopes that Limbaugh will carry his water for him, so that he can stay "above" it all. Well, in a way Limbaugh might (his stated objective in "Operation Chaos" is to elect McCain). I won't (except in the sense of accurately showing Obama for what he is, which does have the truly unfortunate effect of helping McCain).

Please do spellcheck or proofread when you type something so long and so important, as your credibility suffers if you do not type accurately, trust me, I am a transcriptionist! The meat and potatoes of your essay is fine and I agree with you 100%- but it is also a crazy political year! Too bad the candidates started so soon as they have turned off at least 50% of the voters-me included, and I am a diehard, dittohead, conservative Republican who loves politics. I will still vote but my heart is not in it this year, especially since Romney is out of the race- his resignation speech showed that we all let the best man leave! If these 3 candidates are all that America can put forth for the voters, we are all in big trouble! Rose
