Economy and Good News: Is This a D.C. Madam Moment for Leftists

Yes, the economic news today is AGAIN relatively good (much better than expected).  The unemployment rate went DOWN last month, and the economy basically stopped losing jobs (although not yet actually gaining jobs).  That, of course, merely highlights how ridiculous leftist Democrats have been (see yesterday's entries on Senator Charles Schumer, perhaps the most ridiculous of them all) in asserting that the economy is in terrible shape.  It is NOT in "terrible" shape.  It is not doing well, but we hae been in an EXPANSION for more than six years, including irrational exuberance in housing (a housing "bubble").  A downturn was inevitable, and our real challenge is to stop our politicians from RUINING our economy trying to pander to people who want the Federal Government to "protect" them from all economic cycles--from all pain.

Are you waiting for Senator "Chuck" Schumer to say that unemployment is riising for the bottom 90% of the people, while it is falling only for the top 10%?  Or that jobs only added ONE PENNY to people's "incomes" (welfare, you know)?  That would be no more ridiculous than Schumer's partisan hack statements that it is irrelevant that we are not in a recession, since that is true only for the top 10% of income earners; and no more ridiculous than his statement that an extra 1 million barrels of oil a day from (a very small section of) Anwar, which we would ALREADY HAVE if not for Democrats, would reduce the price of gas only one penny.

What this report again makes clear is that the economy is amazingly GOOD, considering the bursting of the housing bubble and the high gasoline prices (helped by Democrats and environmentalists refusing to let us engage in rational policies to produce more energny, including nucear power).

The economy is not good, but neither is it that bad.  THAT should really casue DOOM AND GLOOM leftists in the media and the Democratic Party to follow the example of the D.C. Madam.
