Last night was had one of those great moments that make life worth living, as Anderson Cooper (of CNN) exposed himself as a complete and total idiot. Further, he did so in a way that exposed the rest of the media (including Fox News, as usual) as complete and total idiots. He did this all in the 60 SECONDS or so I was watching CNN to see their depressed reaction over Barack Obama crashing and burning in West Virginia (see previous entry).
Anderson Cooper was talking to a CNN expert, who really was an expert rather than a media flack, on the DELEGATE COUNT in the Democratic nomination race.
Anderson Cooper was having this expert go over the PLEDGED delegate count (from primaries and caucuses), and the DECLARED superdelegate "count". Anderson Cooper got in a discussion with the expert over this DNC Rules Committee meeting that is going to happen on May 31 to decide whether the Democratic Party is going to continue to DISENFRANCHISE two whole states (Micigan and Florida). The discussion was about Hillary Clinton's assertion that the number of delegates to win the nomination is really 2209, instead of the publicized number of 2025, because you had to count Florida and Michigan.
That is when Anderson Cooper made the most STUPID comment I have ever heard on television (which is say a LOT). He suggested to the expert that Barack Obama might reach the 2025 delegate count before May 31--thereby making the Rules Committee meeting unnecessary, because Barack Obama would alreadly have WON the nomination. I have previously informed you, in this blog. of this media, Orwellian type, Big Lie that once Barack Obama reaches a "count" of 2025, he has WON the nominatioin. The expert promptly shot Anderson Cooper down (while Cooper stood with a blank look on his face), as the expert confirmed what I have previously told yoiu in this blog.
The expert informed the befuddled Anderson Cooper that Barack Obama CANNOT "win" the nomination before May 31. In fact, he cannot WIN the nominatio before the Democratic Convention. That is because the "declared" superdelegates DO NOT COUNT until they VOTE in the convention. Pledged delegates have already been elected by VOTE. That VOTE "pledges" them to vote for the candidate that WON those delegates. In contrast, there is no VOTE of the superdelegates before the convention. Even if they held a meeting, that would NOT be a vote under those RULES the Democratic Party sets such store by (until they choose to violate them). The present count of superdelegates is a POLL. Any PROJECTION that Barack Obama has "won" the nomination is like my projection of the West Virginia vote before 10 a.m. yesterday. It is a PRO, based on a POLL, of how the superdelegates will VOTE. They are not BOUND to vote that way (even if they have publicly declared their position).
As the expert told Anderson Cooper, the superdelegates can CHANGE THEIR MINDS all of the way to the actual VOTE at the Democratic Convention. That means that, even if you use the 2025 number, Barack Obama cannot have "won" the Democratic nomination before the actual convention vote, and Hillary Clinton cannot have "lost" it. Hillary Clinton can keep trying to CHANGE THE MINDS of superdelegates all of the way to the convention vote. As I have previously pointed out, some superdelegates have ALREADY changed their minds (mainly from Clinton to Obama)
So it has been a LIE, and will be a LIE, for the media to suggest that Barack Obama has "won" the nomination once his delegate "count" goes above 2025. Anderson Cooper has obviously been listening to HIMSELF, and the rest of the media, too much. Otherwise, he would never have ex himself as a total FOOL by making the expert explain this to him.
John McCain has WON the Republican nomination because his PLEDGED delegates are beyond the number required. Because the Democrats have these superdelegates, which do not VOTE until the convention (under the RULES), it is a LIE to say that Barack Obama has "won" the nomination once his PROJECTED media "count" goes over 2025.. In fact, he CANNOT "WIN" the nomination before the convention. There are too many superdelegates, and Obama's margin of pledged delegates is too small. It is IMPOSSIBLE for Obama to reach 2025 in pledged delegates before the Democratic Convention.
WHY has Hillary Clinton not made a point of this? Well, she MAY. However, to talk about it now would be seen as WEAK--confirming that she expects Barack Obama to reach a projected count of 2025, and is reduced to hoping for superdelegates to change their minds.
However, unless HillaryClinton has a REASON to do otherwise, she has nothing to lose by waitng for the superdelegates to VOTE at the Democratic Conention. She MIGHT be able to change their minds. More realistically, it might become even more obvious that Barack Obama cannot be elected President. Something might happen. Why not wait and see? I would, if I were Hillary Clinton (unless I GOT SOMETHING in exchange for dropping out).
When you listen to the media talk about the delegate "count", and how close Obama is to "winning" the nomination--remember this entry and what the CNN expert said to Anderson Cooper to set him straight. The VOTE of superdelegates does NOT happen until the convention, and it is a Big Lie to keep saying otherwise.
If you get nothing else out of this blog, you should be convinced by now that the media is beneath contempt and cannot be trusted. If you ever start doubting it, remember how Anderson Cooper was expoosed as a total FOOL by his own expert.
That is why last night was one of the best nights I have had in some time. Even though I am almost always right, and Anderson Cooper almost always a fool, it is somewhat rare for CNN itself to PROVE it with its own expert.

You are the stupid one .You can not spell or get your information correct. Anderson is no fool. He is making big bucks for telling the truth and you are unable to even edit.
Unlike Anderson Cooper, I am not getting paid for this. I admit my proofreading is not that good. I don't see that well, as far as picking up detail (like spell check--so I often don't even bother to try to use it).
I note you do not address the real issue here: the truly STUPID statement that Anderson Cooper made suggesting that once Obama reaches 2025 (including superdelegates) it is all OVER. CNN's own expert told Anderson Coope that was INCORRECT, because the superdelegates have not yet VOTED, and CANNOT VOTE until the Democrtic Convention. Any "count" of superdelegates now is just an OPINION POLL.
Are you saying Anderson Cooper is NOT stupid for failing to realize that? Or are you saying that CNN's EXPERT does not know what he is saying, althogh he was "hired" by CNN to tell the "truth" about the Democratic nomination process.
To satify the person commenting, I proofread the entry again, using Spell Check. There were a fair number of typographical errors, which I guess might be annoying. I imagine there ares till a few that I missed. Get over it. I am not willing to spend that much time on "editing" and proofreading.
For example, I noticed that the entry was extremely repetitive (which I realized at the time). There was a REASON for that. I wanted to try to get across the concept of exactly WHY it was the response of a FOOL to suggest that once Barack Obama reaches a media delegate "count" of 2025, he has WON the nomination. CNN's own expert told Anderson Cooper that was FALSE, and it is false. I could hae CUT and HONED to make this entry read considerably better. It is just not worth the effort. Now if you want to PAY me to write this blog, I will do it. I could do less entries, and shorter entries, and do better on both proofreading and clarity. I have chosen to go with more entries, with more than just "sound bites". It is a trade off. If you are interested in substance, it should not bother you that much--although I have some sympathy for those bothered by the rather frequent verbosity.
