Global Warming Update: Should We INCREASE Greenhouse Gas Emissions?

Well, one of teh nationa stories today is about how the move toward ethanol and biofeuls may INCREASE the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.  So a study concludes (confirming the law of unintended consequences).  This blog (see archives) noted a story months ago as to a U.N. person asserting that biofuels were a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY (taking food out of the mouths of poor people around the world).

Could this be a GOOD THING.  Are we in danger of a new ICE AGE because of a much more powerful inflence on climate than greenhouse gases:  the SUN.  Do we NEED to INCREASE "greenhouse gases" to get all of the warming we can (thereby trying to ward off a COOLING phase of the Earth)?  Some scientists think we might.  This is the first paragraph of an itme from Investor's Business Daily today (linked on Drudge):

"Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun."

It turns out that there is an 11 year cycle in the activity of the sun (the sun is KNOWN to be more of an influence on climate than "greenhouse gases").  That 11 year cycle would ordinarily have led to sun spots and increased solar activity.  There are indications that did NOT happen.  The last time the sun exhibited activity, or lack of same, like this was appparently in the 17th Century (no, it is NOT clear to me how we know this).  That resulted in a COLD period of the Earth, ruining agriculture and generally causing trouble for humanity.  This type of period (even outside of an actual Ice Age) can last as long as a century.

What happens if we CONFIRM that the Earth is entering a COOLING phase? Are we going to see environmentalists telling us to emit MORE "greenhouse gases" to try to "save" us?  Don't hold your breath.

As I have said, this fraud of "global warming' is all about leftist POLITICS, and not about "science".  Still, it will be FUN to watch the squirming if this type of thing was confirmed.
