Water, Water Everywhere, and Not a Drop To Drink: Fear Mongering?

"A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows."

The above is the opening, propaganda, fear mongering paragraph by the truly despicable Associated Press, which was intended to invoke this reaction (an AOL comment under the article--presented with my reply, as the comment was to a post of my pointing out that this "news" story was meaningless fear mongering):

"skip3366, hopefully you will do more research on this matter. As life is impacted through hormones and endocrine disrupters-something that glyphosates in roundup do, you will wake up and smell the coffee. This is a crisis matter that has been going on for years. How would you like a hermaphroditic child? Deer are being found in FL that are hermaphroditic and they are very close to humans on the biological chain."

FEAR MONGERING anyone?  Notice how the above goes right by the point.  MINUTE quantities of almost anything are NOT dangerous.   Those who want to spread unreasoning fear are both the source and target of this truly despicable AP story.

MERCUTRY kills people, and destroys the nervous system.  Congress has virtually mandated that we use compact florescent bulbs with MERCURY.  Is Congress trying to kill us (okay, they probably are, but probably not with mercurty).

Here is the SECOND paragraph of the disgraceful AP story:

"To be sure, the concentrations of these pharmaceuticals are tiny, measured in quantities of parts per billion or trillion, far below the levels of a medical dose. Also, utilities insist their water is "

Q.E.D.   However, the AP then goes on to do a LONG story trying to engender as much fear as possible out of absolutely nothing.   There is the usual guff about "some scientists" being "concerned" about the long term effects, and all of the rest.  Irrelevant.  The first and second paragraphs tell you all you need to know.  This is environmental scare stuff--fear mongering at its most blatant.  And there is nothing to it (as the second pargarph illustrates).  The rest of the stroy is all about speculation and FEAR, as was the headline and lead paragraph.

Did AP "journalists" ever learn about "who, what, when, where and why"?  Nope.  It is all about agenda, scare and speculation.  There is no "news" here, other than the "news" I am (correctly) giving you:  that this merely proves that the Assoicated Press is not a "news" service, tut a source of daily propaganda and fear mongering.
