I once said, correctly, that all Obama had to do to GUARANTEE a victory for Democrats this election, and ensure his own future, was VOLUNTEER--even with victory in sight for mimself to get the nomination--to be Vice President to Hilary Clinton.
Forget the governor of Alaska, charismatic, cute and competent as she appears to be. If McCain wants a WOMAN, what about Hillary Clinton?

You have to admit it makes sense, if winning and personal ambition are all that matters.
I KNOW it would be a BETRYAL by McCain of conservatives, and all "real" Republicans. But it would hardly be the first, or 100th, time, would it? McCain has made a career out of betraying conservatives, and I ALMOST think he is capable of this one.
Fantasy? Of course. Will not happen. But you have to admit it is a delicious fantasy--the kind of thing that could both lead to a real conservative party AND throw the left into total disarray.
