Which do pro-abortion leftists care more about: whale babies or human babies?
There is just no doubt about it. Big news today is how that abandoned whale baby will be euthanized to prvent it from suffering.
Let us go back to Barack Obama's Illinois--the incidents that gave rise to the attempted legislation to require care to be rendered to babied aborted by induced labor, but born alive. Taht is the legislation that radical leftist Obama BLOCKED in Illinois, even though the almost identical, federal "Born Alive" Act was passed 98 to 0 in the U.S. Senate--with even leftists like Ted Kennedy voting for it.
The push for that Illinois legislation was driven by the policies of a major hospital, where babies born alive were left in a utility/storage room to DIE--alone, uncomforted, and suffering. At least one was thrown in the trash. A nurse who worked at the hospital so testified before Obama in the Illinois legislature, without any reaction from Obama other than to worry about "undermining" Roe v. Wade. The nurse said that she held at least one "abandoned" human baby for almost an hour--comforting it as it gasped for breath. Planned Parenthood did not, and does not care. Barack Obama did not care.
I ask you again: Do pro-abortion leftist care more for baby whales or human babies? If you think there is any doubt, you have not been paying attention. At least the baby whale was provided with euthanasia to prevent it from suffering. The thing cannot be said of the human babies left to suffer and die (euthanasia for them might have resulted in a murder charge that the medical personnel expected to avoid by merely letting the aborted babies suffer and die). Yes, on at least one occasion a living baby was thrown in the trash.
Why should any of this surprise anyone. Planned Parenthood, and people like Obama, violently opposed limitations of LATE TERM ABORTIONS (partial birth abortion). What happens in partial birth abortion? The fetus, which is fully capable of being born alive, is deliberately and painfully KILLED (no worry about its "suffering") before the birth is complete. There is, of course, no doubt that a ninth month fetus is the SAME creature as a baby. No pro-abortionperson alive has ever explained how it could be otherwise, since the only difference between the two is the cutting of an umbilical cord. "Abortion" of a ninth month fetus is infanticide, pure and simple. WHY should people who accept that kind of infanticide care about the same creatrues that unfortunately end up born alive? Answer: They don't care. Obama did not care.
P.S. Some people might think I am too harsh here. You are wrong. I have been in this debate from the beginning. Some of you may not have been alive at what I call the beginning, when the pro-abortion movement began to pick up steam in the 1960's. At that time, pro-abortion leftists protested that NO ONE favored abortion on demand, because that would be a morally reprehensible thing. But abortion laws were so HARSH. You could not even abort fetuses in the first trimester when the health of the mother was at risk. You could not abort deformed fetuses (this "argument" leading to the present Planned Parenthood position that ninth month "fetuses" can be aborted, since deformed babies could often not be identified until late term). Still, pro-life people who said that pro-abortion people wanted wholesale abortion on demand were ridiculed as "alarmist" extremists who did not have any compassion for the extreme cases that would justify abortion. it was all a LIE. Pro-abortion people DID want abortion on demand. They wanted NO restrictions. Quickly, the "extreme" position of "abortion on demand" became a "Constitutional right" that you were not allowed to restrict at all. The "extreme" positon became the position that it was just as wrong to kill a ninth month fetus in the womb as to kill that fetus outside of the womb. It became not only acceptable, but establishment orthodoxy to argue that we had to allow ninth month fetuses to be burned to death with acid in the womb, for fear of impinging on a woman's "right" to an abortion. In other words, as with slavery, people who were not evil people became advocates for very great evils. If you believe that it is infanticide to kill a baby after the umbilical cord is cut, but mere garbage disposal to kill that same creature the instant before the umbilicial cord is cut, you have allowed yourself to turn into a monster, haven't you. Nope. I don't have any sympathy for that position. It is the position of a monster, and it is where the pro-abortion, leftist orthodoxy in this country ended up, after agreeing int he beginning that such a position would make them monsters. I have watched the pro-abortion movement (which never had any intellectual logic) morph into a movement which has made a woman's womb a DEATH TRAP for human babies until the moment they are born. No sympathy in this quarter for that.
